Why
Pilastro neighbourhood was built in 1966 in the suburbs of Bologna as a council housing district to host immigrats from southern Italy and the working class.
Last year, in occasion of its fiftieth anniversary, Bologna Town Municipality promoted a project for the development of this area, with the aim to enhance its human and cultural richness.
Laminarie theatre company was appointed as Coordinator of a Laboratory for Local Storytelling which led to the creation of a Community Digital Archive. The archive was built by collecting photographs, videos and other historical documents from single citizens, groups, associations and cultural Institutions. Its aim is both to collect stories and historical witnesses of the district and to imagine the future of this area at the same time.
Laminarie presented a collection of documents selected from the broader archive kept at DOM under the title Collecting Stories.
On the 9th of July 2016, during festival Vocazione al contatto curated by Laminarie at Pasolini Public Park, Laminarie presented a birthday party for the neighbourhood with a monumental projection of the contents of the Archive on the facede of two main Towers.
