A story from Home is Where Mom is-Gozo/Malta

UnPacking A Sky

In Gharb/Gozo in one piece! a calm village to the west of the island where I will spend the first 2 weeks of my residency. A rain storm is starting, I've been told that people here were already praying for rain as it has been quite dry last year. I brought the rain! Although Jordan is quite dry too at the moment but my presence didn't have the same effect I assume!
Work starts right away, I have a meeting with the Gharb mayor tomorrow to tell him what I'll be working on and how he could be of help so I can possibly be connected to some of the mothers of the village and talk to them about "Home is Where Mom is".
Thanks to Ann and Victoria from Valletta2018 for setting up this meeting and for briefing me about the pivotal roles of the 4 entities in each Gozitan village: The church, the local council, the football club, and the band club. They gather people and life happens around these venues and life is for sue what I'm in need to explore.
This also means that observation can only begin when one starts living somewhere, you know, getting the grocery, dining out, taking the bus, etc...
Gharb is quite calm, there are some tourists but I was told that many foreigners own property here and come several times a year...
Looking forward to the meeting and to many more..
